Muir Lodge Motel Martinez

[ Personally, I wouldn't trust a reviewer that says "Zero stars" and goes on to rate the place a 3/5 which is literally three stars. 3 ≠ 0. I'm surprised their limited Mathematics skills weren't a problem when they were checking in. Paying for things involves managing numbers, fees and such. Anyway, here's my review. ] It's got a classic motel exterior with a beautiful vintage neon sign, but the interior is very modern with wood flooring and furniture. I was pleasantly surprised to find such a reasonably priced motel not only immaculately clean but very comfortable and stocked with everything you'd need for coffee or tea and some individually wrapped pastries to go with it. To keep rates low, there's a husband and wife who work late and appear to live in one of the rooms the same way family motels were run in the old days. They were ready and expecting me, both very friendly, and they made sure everything was satisfactory once I checked in despite arriving late after catching the last bus there at 8:00pm. (It's two miles from the Amtrak station, but there's no closer motel despite it being a hub for both buses and trains in all directions, and there are bus services in the city and a riding service for after hours, so getting there isn't that much of an issue.)

Very nice recently remodeled place. They provided earplugs to everyone if you're really sensitive to traffic noise. Great location. Room was clean but cloth chairs could use some fabric cleaner so they lose one star. Still highly recommend.

Nice little affordable Patel Motel near the courts, ADA office, etc. If you are in town for business, it's a nice place to stay with a clean if small pool and totally renovated rooms. Don't know about the experiences' of others but the sound level was perfectly fine when I was there. Absolutely really lovely staff. Not your average 'Patel Motel'!

Ok. There is a race for parking space. But the rooms are clean. The showers small, but fancy. Good water pressure. And the owners are very nice people

Muir Lodge has been my "Go To" for Bay Area stays since 2019. The quality outweighs the price, consistently. The owners and staff are always courteous and available. A warm voice always greets you on the phone, even into the late hours. There is low staff turn over which supports a happy healthy work environment and is quite pleasant when they remember me. The location right off highway 4 is convenient to accessing all the local freeways; I80 towards SF, or H680 towards San Ramon Valley and H242 towards East Bay. The grounds are very clean, maintained and well lighted. There is always a new improvement when i arrive. From fresh exterior paint, solar panels, aromatic roses outside each room and a sparkling swimming pool. The rooms, in which i have enjoyed many, are fresh with wood floors, led lights, and artistic hardware in the bathrooms. The linen is always fresh and SOFT, not hard from too much cleaning products and there is a cozy extra blanket just in case you need it. The central air never has blown out funky smells. Each Room is slightly different but sticks to a general theme. It is my Trusted Home away from Home when i visit the Bay. I always feel Safe, comfy, respected and appreciated. Plus its so nice to be a part of such POSITIVE & HEALTH energy. Muir Lodge is Wonderful!!

It's been a long time since I've stayed at a motor lodge. I've stayed in 5 star hotels, and while Muir Lodge is not glitzy, it's clean, well-appointed, and convenient. It is really nice having your vehicle right outside the door. The room is clean. The pillow selection worked for me. You do hear road noice, but there are provided 3M ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. The blackout curtains darkened the room well enough. I have no concerns about safety. The area is well lit.

The room exceeded my expectations. It was sparkling clean. The setup of the room was well planned. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. They provided bottled water and pasteries as long as we stayed there. We decided that we will always stay here whenever we plan to visit the Bay area. The only setback is that it is 45 minutes from the city. Still highly recommend!
